Issue: | Echo Workstation Blocked by Microsoft Firewall Settings |
Product: | Pearl Echo |
Applies to: | All Builds |
Background:
The Pearl Echo Workstation agent must be able to communicate with the Pearl Echo Server over your network or the Internet. In addition, if you are using Pearl Echo's automatically updating URL database, EchoFilters™, the Pearl Echo Server processes must be able to communicate over the Internet to Pearl Software's URL servers in order to receive its updates.
Solution:
- If a software firewall is on the Pearl Echo Server, you must allow the Pearl Echo processes echoComm.exe and emeraldshieldserver.exe to access inbound and outbound connections.
- If a software firewall is on the managed Workstation, you must allow the Pearl Echo processes rnappp7.exe and updater7.exe to access outbound connections.
- If a hardware firewall is installed between your Pearl Echo Server and managed Workstations, be sure to make the firewall port assignments as detailed in Chapter 2 of the Pearl Echo User’s Guide.
